New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday paid tributes to India's first President Rajendra Prasad on his 133rd birth anniversary.
The President paid floral tributes to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Mr Naidu, paying homage, said he was "a selfless and visionary leader", who played "a significant role in shaping the polity of India. He will always be remembered for his simplicity and compassion for others."
Born on this day in 1884, he was as the country's first President in office from January 24, 1950 to May 13, 1962.
