New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) President Pranab Mukherjee today donned the hat of a teacher and gave a lesson to students of the Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, here on history of Indian politics. He gave a lesson to around 80 students of Classes XI and XII of Delhi's Dr Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya at the President’s estate on the ‘Evolution of Indian Politics’. During his nearly hour-long lesson at the school, Mr Mukherjee talked about India’s political history and its development since independence. He also talked about the rising menace of terrorism in the country and across the world. The President, who was a college teacher and a journalist before he joined politics in 1969, had last year too held a joint class for the students of the same . Mr Mukherjee agreed to teach the students on the invitation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Earlier in the day, the President had in a message to teachers, termed ‘inspired teachers’ as the building blocks of a good education system. He said teachers should instill in children civilisational values of sacrifice, tolerance, pluralism, understanding and compassion. In his greetings to teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the President said, "a sound education system is the bedrock of an enlightened society. Inspired teachers are the building blocks of a good education system. An inspired teacher links the individual goals of the students to the societal and national goal.’’ Calling on teachers to instill in children the civilisational values the President said, "our teachers need to imbibe technology and new methodologies to create modern and effective approaches to teaching and learning.’’ Extending his greetings and felicitations to teachers throughout the country on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the President said, "Teachers’ Day is an occasion when we recognise the dedicated services of the teachers of our nation.
