New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) President Pranab Mukherjee signed the ordinance brought in to defer the holding of National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test(NEET), the common medical entrance examination for admission to medical colleges across the country, by a year, sources said. Last evening, the President was briefed on the issue by Union Health Minister J P Nadda. The Minister explained to him the three aspects of the issue-different exams of state boards, syllabi and regional languages on which he had obtained the views of state health ministers in a recent meeting. The ordinance had been cleared by the Union Cabinet on Friday. It had the effect of "partially" overturning a Supreme Court order which said all government colleges, deemed universities and private medical colleges would be covered under NEET. UNI NAZ PR ADG 1225
