Pre poll violence in Arunachal: SP injured in stone pelting

Itanagar, Mar 28 (UNI) Pre-poll violence broke out in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday during scrutiny of nomination papers for the April 19 Assembly elections, in which the Longding SP sustained injuries.
The incident unfolded when a mob resorted to stone pelting after the nomination of Gangdiap Gangsa, NPP candidate from Pongchau-Wakka assembly seat was rejected by the Returning Officer on the issue of the office of profit, Longding DC cum District Election Officer Bekir Nyorak said.
In the incident, SP Dekio Gumja sustained injuries in his cheek. Security forces had to fire several rounds in the air to disperse the mob, the DEO said, while adding that the situation is normal and under control now.
