Power utilities to install pre-paid electricity meters in Haryana

Sirsa, Nov 16 (UNI) The Haryana Power Utilities would now install pre-paid electricity meters in the state and consumers would get power according to the amount of pre-paid recharge done by them.
Stating this here on Thursday, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor said in case of no usage, the amount would remain in the account of the consumers and the meter would be recharged like pre-paid mobile. In near future, consumers would also be relieved of charge levied on making online payments of electricity bills.
About 10 lakh pre-paid electricity meters have been purchased under this scheme and work to install these meters would soon be given to an agency, he said and added that the existing meter in each house would be replaced with smart meter in next two years and this system would resolve the complaints pertaining to meter reading.
