Vatican City, Aug 15 (UNI) Pope Francis on Sunday said he shares “the unanimous concern for the situation in Afghanistan" and called for dialogue to end the conflict there so that the people can live in peace, security and mutual respect.
The Pope made the appeal in his noon address as the Taliban entered the capital Kabul, after overrunning major provinces across Afghanistan.
"I join in the unanimous worry about the situation in Afghanistan. I ask you to pray along with me to the God of peace so that the clamor of weapons may cease and that solutions can be found at the negotiating table," he said from a window overlooking St. Peter's Square.
