Police start a suo motu case against BJP candidate of Basirhat LS seat Sayantan Basu

Basirhat, Mar 28 (UNI) The North 24 Parganas district police officials have started a suo motu case against senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and candidate of Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency Sayantan Basu for his alleged 'derogatory' statements during an election rally here on Tuesday.
The district Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders have lodged a complaint with the returning officer at Basirhat in this connection.
A senior TMC leader from the district said no political leaders can make such remarks which are highly 'derogatory' and may also 'intimidate' the voters.
