New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) Ahead of 36th National Games which is set to take place in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his best wishes to the athletes participating in the Games and said he would be present to encourage them.
"National Games will start in Gujarat from Sep 29. It is being held after long. My best wishes to all participants. I will be there to encourage them," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his radio program Mann ki Baat.
The 36th National Games of India will take place in Gujarat from September 28 to October 12, and will include 36 sports in all.
The events will be held in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar in Gujarat.
Themed 'Sports for Unity', the sports programme will include athletics, field hockey, football, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, skateboarding, Netball and judo, and will also feature traditional sports such as kabaddi, and kho kho. For the first time, mallakhamba, a traditional sport in which gymnasts performs aerial yoga or gymnastic postures, and yogasana have also been included in the National Games.
