Philippines re imposes restrictions around Manila as Covid-19 cases soar

Manila, Aug 3 (UNI) Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte has restored stricter quarantine restrictions around Metropolitan Manila after the Philippines witnessed four consecutive days of record increases in COVID-19 infections and health workers warned of a collapse of the healthcare system.
Duterte approved recommendations of a task force overseeing efforts to slow the virus' spread to put the capital and its vicinity back on "modified enhanced community quarantine" from Tuesday (Aug 4) to Aug 18.
During this time period only those buying food and supplies and going to work will be allowed to leave their homes.
