Pharmaceutical sector identified as priority sector in Punjab: Rajat Aggarwal

Chandigarh, July 20 (UNI) Punjab has immense potential in the pharmaceutical sector and with a view to harness this potential to the fullest extent, the state government is exploring the idea of developing a Pharmaceutical Park to augment growth in this sector.
Airing these views on the occasion of a stakeholder consultation session organised here today by Invest Punjab to reach out to the industry, Invest Punjab CEO Rajat Aggarwal gave a detailed presentation on the 'Advantage Punjab' highlighting the offerings to the industry in terms of policy incentives, conducive labour relations, round the clock quality power at the rate of Rs 5, robust infrastructure etc.
The meeting aimed at identifying the roadmap for boosting pharma sector in Punjab in consultation with the industry.
Mr Aggarwal said that the pharmaceutical sector has been identified as a priority sector in the state, boosted by the presence of prominent industry players such as Sunpharma, Nectar Life Sciences, IOL Chemicals etc. The State also boasts the presence of world class Reserch and Development and educational centers like NIPER, PGI, INST, ISB, IISER etc.
He said the Punjab government launched an Industrial Policy in 2017 which offers support and attractive fiscal incentives to potential investors.
On the occasion, representatives from United Biotech (P) Ltd, Theon Pharmaceuticals Limited, Unison Pharmaceuticals were present amongst the other from the pharma industry.
