Petrol prices up by 6 p/l; diesel remains stable

New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) Petrol once again increased on Monday by 6 paise per litre while diesel remains stable across major cities of the country.

In last two days, petrol prices were raised by 12 paise per litre.

Petrol was increased by 6 paise per litre and diesel also registered hike of 7 to 8 paise on Sunday.

In Delhi, petrol retails at Rs 72.98 per litre as against Sunday's 72.92 p/l while diesel costs Rs 66.26 a litre.



In Mumbai, people have to shell out Rs 78.55 per litre while diesel retails at Rs 69.35 per litre.

According to Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol and diesel cost Rs 75 and Rs 68 a litre in Kolkata.



Similarly, in Chennai, petrol is retailing at Rs 75.75 per litre and diesel costs Rs 69.96 a litre.

In Noida, petrol comes at a price of Rs 72.83 per litre and diesel costs Rs 65.46 a litre.



In Gurgaon, petrol is being sold for Rs 72.29 a litre and diesel Rs 65.36 per litre.



As per the country’s dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon International fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.



The price of the two fuels retailing at the petrol pumps is calculated after adding central excise duty, dealers commission and value-added tax (VAT) to the base price.



The prices are revised at 0600 hrs daily, while earlier it used to revise every fortnight.
