Peasants stage 'dharna' in Narsinghpur

Narsinghpur, MP, Feb 5 (UNI) Several peasants today reached the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) plant at Gadarwara and staged a 'dharna' in support of their demands.
The protest comes in the wake of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha's four-day agitation in Narsinghpur concluding last evening. On the occasion, peasant leader Shivkumar Sharma had announced that Gadarwara plant officials had acceded to certain demands.
Senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha – who also took part in the agitation last evening – urged agriculturists to conclude their protest at the Collectorate office and continue their protest at Gadarwara. He declared that a massive agitation would be staged in New Delhi on February 23 if the demands of farmers are not met.
