PBG not to invite speakers to Book Fair whose comments could be cause of embarrassment to govt

Kolkata, Nov 28 (UNI) Publishers and Booksellers Guild(PBG) today made it clear in unequivocal terms that it will not invite speakers to the 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair whose comments can be the cause of embarrassment to the government.
" We won't name anyone, but we will not invite the personalities, whose views can spark communal disharmony and be a cause of embarrassment for the state government, " Tridib Chatterjee, general secretary of the guild and the organiser of the Kolkata Book Fair, said in a press conference here.
The guild representatives were asked whether writers like Taslima Nasrin whose views didn't go well with a section of political class would be invited to the fair even as a bevy of personalities from various fields were slated to speak at the fair from January 30 to Februray 10, 2019.
