Pak funding case: Two Kashmiri separatist leaders summoned by NIA for questioning

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Two key Kashmiri separatist leaders-- Farooq Ahmed Dar aka Bitta Karate, the chief of JKLF, and Ghazi Javed Baba of Tehreek-e-Huriyat-- have been summoned here by the elite NIA for questioning for the third time in connection with the 'Pakistan funding case'. They may be questioned either tomorrow, May 29, or on Tuesday, sources said, adding that both the leaders were quizzed by the probe agency officials last week twice after a report surfaced that the separatist leaders were ready to "bleed" the Kashmir Valley and rest of India for money. The NIA had also questioned Hurriyat's provincial President (Geelani Faction) Naeem Khan in the case. Sources said both Ahmed Dar and Javed Baba have been directed to show the agency officials the details of their bank accounts and if necessary even property papers. The government is said to have taken serious note of the reports about 'funding' from Pakistan even as sources in state police indicated that these were nothing new. However, the supposed involvement of hawala channels in funding for stoking violence in Jammu and Kashmir is said to be irked the central government especially the Ministry of Home Affairs, the sources said. In a media expose, Hurriyat leader Nayeem Khan has been shown in a 'sting operation' about confessing that Pakistan was pumping in money to help Hurriyat leaders to spark off a series of violence and related troubles in the Kashmir valley. It may be mentioned here that the NIA has already named Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba chief Hafeez Saeed and a few other Kashmiri separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a formal preliminary inquiry. The probe is reportedly entering a critical phase, a source said. UNI DEVN SB 2314
