Pace of activity, frequency of launches will be increased: ISRO chairman

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Highlighting the country’s various satellites missions, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman, AS Kiran Kumar today said that scientific interests of the country can only be addressed if the technological requirements are planned well to put that in space. Addressing a press conference today at the Project Managers Global Summit here, Mr Kumar said, “Currently we are trying to increase the pace of activity and the frequency of launches, so that we can bring in sufficient infrastructure in space to meet the communication remote sensing of observation and navigation for the requirements of the country”. “Within the coming year, one of the significant events will be Chandrayan II which will be different from what we have launched earlier. The new satellite will carry a lander to control the descent surface of the moon”, added Mr Kumar. The ISRO chairman pointed out that the agency is looking at increasing the launches and eying for a joint venture to build PSLV at an elevated frequency so that the required numbers can be met. Mr Kumar also said, “Building capacity in the organization as well as in the country is important because we are carrying out 80 per cent of the launch vehicle in the industry, so if we are working on frequency in the industry should gear up.” UNI SDR SHK 1647
