Opposition parties flay action against farmers

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Eight non-Congress Opposition parties on Saturday strongly criticised what it termed as the Government's "oppressive action" against farmers marching to Delhi from Punjab and Haryana, and appealed to the Government to give these farmers a place to agitate in Ramlila Maidan or any other big ground.
Leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Nationalist Congress Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, DMK, CPI (M-L), Revolutionary Socialist Party and Forward Bloc in a joint statement issued here welcomed the farmers, saying they showed courage and determination by crossing obstacles like road blocks, wire fencing and barricades such as road digging, and finally entered Delhi peacefully.
The statement also said that at first the government tried to stop them by digging up the national highway and putting obstacles, but eventually they had to change their decision and allow farmers entry in to Delhi and ensure a special place for them to protest.
