New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Congress, which has been spearheading the opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani issue, on Thursday said it will press its demand for JPC in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
The Hindenburg Research Report on Adani Group alleged that it had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.
"In the upcoming monsoon session (of Parliament), when we will sit in the new 'Parliament building', our first demand will be the JPC probe on 'Modani' scam," said Congress general secretary-in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh, after releasing a booklet titled 'Hum Adani Ke Hain Kaun', highlighting the 100 questions asked by the party to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Adani issue.
It may be mentioned that over a dozen opposition parties including Congress had 'boycotted' the inauguration of the new Parliament building by the PM on May 28.
"All the Opposition parties are united. We will demand for a JPC probe. We will not step back," the Congress MP said.
He added, "Modani scam can be unearthed only through JPC probe."
Taking a swipe at the PM, he said, "PM Modi should break his 'silence' on the 100 questions asked by the Congress party, and Rahul Gandhi on the Modani scam."
Rahul has been accusing the PM of favouring 'few industrialists' including billionaire businessman Gautam Adani.
He had earlier asked the PM to disclose his relationship with Adani after the Hindenburg Research Report on the Adani Group surfaced.UNI DS ARN BM SSP
