Only Congress benefited from Gandhiji's death, instigated Godse: Uma Bharti

Only Congress benefited from Gandhiji's death, instigated Godse: Uma Bharti

Palanpur, Oct 12 (UNI) Union Minister and fire-brand BJP leader Uma Bharti on Thursday said that only Congress benefited from the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. She also said that it was still unclear as to who instigated Nathuram Godse to kill Gandhiji and the one who could have done so would have been the one who had felt threat from the life of the great leader and it was the case with Congress. Ms Bharti, who was here in connection with the Gujarat Gaurav Yatra of ruling BJP, told newsmen that the biggest loss owing to the death of Gandhi ji was suffered by the nation which lost its leader and path-shower. The second place from the angle of loss was of RSS and Jansangh (predecessor of BJP). 'We have to face ban and accusations. Congress has not stopped accusing us even after the clean-chit by the court of law,' she said. 'But it was only Congress which benefited from Gandhiji's assassination because at that time Gandhji was completely disillusioned from Congress and used to speak publicly about dissolving it and could have done so any time. So, anyone who got life and benefit from his death was only Congress. Had he lived a few more days he could have dissolved Congress and created a new political environment in the country. So, it is still a matter to ponder as to who instigated Godse to kill him. Only the one who would have felt threat from Gandhiji's living longer had done so and Congress was feeling threat from him,' the BJP leader said. She said that the government under PM Narendra Modi was trying to re-establish the ideology of Gandhiji in the country. Ms Bharti also said that from the time of Nehru the definition of Secularism was distorted as an ideology based on hate towards Hindus and the communists also promoted it. Now the Modi government has established its true definition as the ideology that respects all the religions. 'And owing to it even Congress (in an indirect reference to Rahul Gandhi's recent temple visits in Gujarat) was now compelled to take rounds of temples,' she said. She also claimed that BJP in Gujarat would win more than 160 seats which was even higher than the target of 150 (out of total 182 seats) set by party president Amit Shah. 'Congress will become like a Kati Patang (a kite with cut down thread),' she added. UNI RAJ AKC SHK 1804
