One civilian killed, 21 BSF injured in bus accident in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 30 (UNI) A civilian died and 21 BSF jawans with 2 civilians severely injured when a bus in which they were traveling slipped off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Um-tyr-ah village in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills District, police official said on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police in-charge West Jaintia Hill district, Lakador Syiem said that all the injured BSF injured personnel and two civilians had been shifted to Khliehriat Community Health Centre and North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong for better medical treatment.

A civilian, identified as Jogto Gogoi was a helper of the bus (co-driver), succumbed to his injuries at Khliehriat Community Health Centre, he said.

The injured BSF were proceeding towards Silchar in Assam.

Meanwhile, police have started investigating the cause of the accident.

Vyapar Mala Express reached Tripura within 68 hrs from Delhi to Jirania covering 2360
kilometres distance with 58 wagons two days ago, transport department officials said
here today.
Officials stated this was a special type of cargo service where traders can book part
of the goods carrying rake as per their requirement or supply order. The first goods
express train Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) which left from Delhi Kishanganj station
of Northern Railway to Jirania station on August 1 last.

Agartala, Aug 6 (UNI) Cancelling the bail by a local court, Tripura High Court today asked
all the four accused, including a government advocate, to surrender forthwith for spitting
on a lady doctor at a Covid centre two weeks ago and told police to conduct Test
Identification (TI) parade immediately.
