Officials, Social activists express concern at growing human trafficking

Vijayawada, Jun 23 (UNI) Officials, NGOs and social activists expressed concern at the growing human trafficking and felt that awareness campaign should be launched to sensitize people.
A workshop was held on Combating Trafficking of Girls for sexual Exploitation in Andhra Pradesh, organised by the department of Women development, Transport, R&B, and HELP, a voluntary organisation here today.
Addressing the Workshop WCD&SC department Secretary Aparna Upadyaula said that in guise of employment in Gulf countries, women are lured and trafficked. She said that girl child are preferred for trafficking and warned that consensual sex with minor girls is crime. Girls are also trapped in the name of love and the cinema has it influence on youth, he lamented.

Police attach properties of Pakistan based terror handler in J&K’s Baramulla

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) Police on Thursday attached properties of a Pakistan based terror handler in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police said after obtaining an attachment order from the Court of Sub Judge Uri, it attached properties (6 Kanals & 10 Marlas) land worth lakhs belonging to a terror handler based in Pakistan identified as Adrees Ahmad Mir a resident of Singtung Gowhallan Uri.
