Odisha govt asks DMs and other officials toensure drinking water in summer

Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (UNI) Odisha government on Monday directed all District Collectors and officers of the Panchayati raj department to ensure drinking water during the coming summer.
Reviewing the drinking water situation with the district collectors and officials of the panchayati raj department through a video conferencing, chief secretary A P Padhi directed that there should be “no scarcity of drinking water either actual or perceived” during the summer.
Mr Padhi said, sufficient fund have been kept in panchayats for the purpose and collectors have been delegated with power for drilling of new tube wells, sanitary wells, repair and maintenance of all drinking water sources. The rate contract for procurement of spare parts has also been finalized.
