Odisha DGP suspends lady police officer for her misconduct

Bhubaneswar, May 23 (UNI) Odisha DGP Abhay today placed Sandyarani Jena IIC Patna
Police Station in Keonjhar Distrct under suspension for her misconduct.
The official twitter page of the DGP said, “ DGP has placed Inspector Sandhyarani Jena
IIC Patna PS of Keonjhar Distrct under suspension for her misconduct.”
The DGP had ordered an inquiry into the incident after a video showing the IIC beating
the youth inside the police station went viral. The DGP suspended the IIC on the basis of
the inquiry report submitted by the Keonjhar SDPO.
Sources said the youth was brought to the police station in connection with a dispute
with his neighbour. Though the incident occurred in March last the video went viral
recently.
Acting on a petition filed by a rights activist the Odisha Human Rights Commission on
May 19 last has directed the Home Secretary and the DGP to pay Rs 10,000 to the
youth as an interim compensation within ten days of receipt of the order.
The OHRC has directed that the compensation money be recovered from the salary of
accused IIC.
