Odisha achieves a record high of 401 Covid recovery in a single day

Bhubaneswar, Jul 9 (UNI) In the war against Covid 19 Odisha today registered a record high of 401 recovery of Covid patients in a single day taking the total recovery in the state to 7,407 so far.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said, out of 403 Covid patients cured today, Ganjam district alone accounted for 100 followed by Gajapati (67), Cuttack (42), Jajpur (19) and Deogarh (18).

Till date, 11,201 people have been infected with Covid 19 of which 7,407, about 66.12 per cent of the total Covid cases, have been cured and discharged from the hospital.

Ganjam district which incidentally reported the highest Covid positive and death cases, also registered highest recovery of 1,707 cases followed by Khordha (816), Cuttack (612), Jajpur (488), Gajapati (429) and Balasore (358).

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Empowered Group of Ministers' Committee meeting, chaired by the Finance & Excise minister today decided to increase the Covid testing capacity in the coming days.

As of now, more than 6,000 Covid tests are being done daily, through 19 Government and 7 Private Laboratories in the State.

The meeting decided to intensify sensitization programmes in order to enhance immunity of people.

Considering the present Covid-19 scenario and to discourage unwanted movements, the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training will now conduct Semester Summer Exams online, using Android based smartphones.

The students who do not have any facility of Laptop/Desktop/Android Mobile phone or having internet connectivity problem may only avail the option of visiting nearby designated centre of their district to appear for the Examination.

Official sources said, as of now, 5,666 Covid Care Homes are operational in 6,798 Gram Panchayats of the State with 53,687 beds to provide Covid-19 health services in rural areas.

Upto midnight of July 8, as many as 3,14,987 samples have been tested and the number of positive cases stands at 11,201. The number of active cases stand at 3,727 while 4,128 persons are in Hospital isolation.
