New Delhi, Aug 20 (UNI) The Railways' Integral Coach Factory, in collaboration with the Department of Posts, has recently released a commemorative stamp on Indian Railways' first indigenous semi-high speed train set, Vande Bharat Express.
The information was posted on Railways' official Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the train this year on February 15 and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had travelled on it, from New Delhi to Varanasi. The commercial operation of the train started on February 17.
Vande Bharat Express is an engine-less self-propelled offering of the Indian Railways, which can attain the speed of up to 180 kmph, if the tracks permit. The advanced technology train, set with semi-high speed potential, is able to reduce journey time by about 40 per cent, due to its faster acceleration and deceleration.
The all AC chair car service has several aircraft-like features.
Even in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's August 15 speech, he had said '...Time has changed now, people aren't satisfied with just a Railway station, they immediately ask "when will Vande Bharat Express come in our area?"
The second Vande Bharat Express train will run from Delhi to Katra route three days a week. It is a high speed train, which will bring down the travel time between Delhi-Katra from 12 hours to eight hours.
