New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Petrol and diesel prices rose for the sixth consecutive day on Tuesday with a hike of 13-14 paise in petrol prices while diesel was increased by 19-20 paise across major cities of the country.
In national capital Delhi, petrol is being sold for Rs 71.27 per litre as against of Rs 71.14 on Monday while diesel costs Rs 65.90 a litre as against of yesterday's Rs 65.47.
In Mumbai, people have to shell out Rs 76.98 for a litre of petrol while diesel costs Rs 69.01 per litre.
According to Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol and diesel cost Rs 73.36 and Rs 67.68 per litre in Kolkata. Similarly, in Chennai petrol is retailing at Rs 73.99 and diesel Rs 69.62 a litre.
In Noida, petrol and diesel is being sold Rs 70.97 a litre and Rs 65.06 p/l whereas in Gurugram, a litre of petrol costs Rs 71.99 and diesel Rs 65.67.
As per the country’s dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon international fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.
The price of the two fuels retailing at the petrol pumps is calculated after adding central excise duty, dealers commission and value-added tax (VAT) to the base price.
