Nitish leads NDA legislators in reaffirming their support to liquor ban

Patna, Nov 29 (UNI) In an apparent bid to give strong message for strictly enforcing liquor ban after deaths of more than 60 people in hooch tragedies in various parts of Bihar recently, all NDA legislators led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took pledge in favour of complete prohibition in the state.
In a meeting of NDA legislators, they reaffirmed their support to liquor ban by taking pledge to this effect, led by Chief Minister Kumar. It assumes significance in giving a strong message for strictly enforcing liquor ban as more than 60 people had lost their lives recently in hooch tragedies in various parts of Bihar.
Kumar while speaking in the meeting said that liquor ban would continue in Bihar without any laxity and instructions had already been issued to enforce liquor ban more strictly. There was no question of giving second thought to liquor ban law due to protests from few corners, he added.

Five fishermen missing after trawlers capsize in Bay of Bengal

Kakdwip (West Bengal), Aug 19 (UNI) At least five fishermen went missing on Friday after three trawlers capsized in the stormy Bay of Bengal in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, official sources said.Altogether 38 fishermen fell into the turbulent waters when the three fuel-powered fishing trawlers capsized following stormy weather in the coastal district.However, 33 of them were rescued by other fishermen.The accident happened when the trawlers were returning to Kakdwip and Namkhana from deep sea fishing.Sources said after the sunset search and rescue operations for the missing persons have been halted for the night.The capsize happened when the trawlers were jolted at the seabed near Kendo island, sources said.While F B Satyanarayan turned turtle, FB Vishalaxmi and FB Sudhamayee sank.
