NIA files chargesheet against 3 in 2017 Hindu leader killing case

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Anti-terror federal probe agency NIA on Wednesday said it has filed a chargesheet here at a local special court against three arms suppliers in the case of killing of Hindu leader Amit Sharma at Ludhiana in 2017. He was President of Sri Hindu Takht.

NIA officials said that the chargesheet has named arms suppliers Ashish Kumar, Javed and Arshad Ali aka Munshi, all residents of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh. They have been charged under various sections of India Penal Code (IPC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act, they said.

“The case has arisen out of the Ludhiana Police FIR dated January 15, 2017 related to the killing of Hindu leader Amit Sharma, the President of Sri Hindu Takht, Ludhiana,” NIA spokesperson said in a statement.

On January 14, 2017, two unknown motorcycle borne assailants killed Amit Sharma as a part of an organised conspiracy hatched by terrorist outfit Khalistan Liberation Front (KLF), the probe agency officials said, adding that the murder was one among eight such cases of serial killings or attempted killings that took place in Punjab in 2016-2017 with a view to create terror and communal disturbance.

So far, the investigation has revealed that accused Ashish Kumar, Javed and Arshad Ali aka Munshi had facilitated the other accused persons in commission of the terrorist act leading to the killing of Amit Sharma by supplying illegal fire arms used in the crime.

They had supplied illegal arms including a point 32 bore pistols which, along with other weapons and fire arms, were used in target killing cases in Punjab,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier, the NIA had filed chargesheet, on May 14, 2018 against 15 accused persons in the case. They included Hardeep Singh alias Shera, Ramandeep Singh alias Canadian, Dharminder Singh alias Guguni, Anil Kumar alias Kala, Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi, Amaninder Singh alias Mindu, Manpreet Singh alias Mani, Ravipal Singh alias Bhunda, Pahad Singh, Parvez alias Farru, Malook Tomar, Harmeet Singh alias Happy, Gurjinder Singh alias Shastri, Gursharanbir Singh alias Pehalwan and Gurjant Singh Dhillon.
