United Nations, Nov 17 (UNI) India has slammed Pakistan for its 'irrelevant and irresponsible' allegations at the UN that it (India) is involved in terrorism and therefore, not qualified to be a permanent member of the Security Council (UNSC).
India's Permanent Representative to the UN, T S Tirumurti, while participating in a debate in the General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday ridiculed Pakistan saying 'this is a forum for serious debate, not frivolous allegations and that he did not wish to 'waste the time of the General Assembly."
'I do not wish to waste the time of the General Assembly by responding to the irrelevant and irresponsible remarks made by the representative of Pakistan which has become Pavlovian whenever India is mentioned,'
Mr Tirumurti said.
'This is forum for serious debate, not frivolous allegation,' Mr Tirumurti said while participating in the debate on the 'Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and other matters related to the Security Council.'
He was responding to Pakistan Ambassador to the UN, Munir Akram's, allegations that India was involved in terrorism and therefore, not qualified for permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
Pakistan, whose Minister has already admitted in the country's National Assembly (Parliament) its involvement in the suicide bombing in India in which nearly 40 security personnel were killed, has opposed India's permanent membership of the UN Security Council accusing New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism.
