Beijing, Sep 10 (UNI) Beijing has become the second Chinese city to have full coverage of the super fast 5G signals, as China moves towards 5G mobile network coverage.
As per a statement released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Wednesday, Beijing has set up over 44,000 5G base stations, and the number is expected to reach 50,000 by the end of the current year.
All the base stations have been connected to 5G independent networking, which effectively means that the whole city is covered by 5G signals.
Beijing follows Shenzhen in achieving full 5G coverage, a total of 46,000 base stations are functional in Shenzhen. The city's mayor had on August 17 claimed that Shenzhen is the city with the highest density of 5G base stations in the world.
As of July, China's major three telecom operators, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, have reportedly rolled out more than 400,000 5G base stations.
As per a report by Global Times total number of 5G subscribers have already exceeded 60 million in China, which is the world's second largest economy.
Internet speeds in 5G mobile phones is much faster compared to 4G phones, a full movie can be downloaded in just a few seconds using a 5G phone, 5G technology could enhance connectivity of industrial machines which would result in better production efficiency or even the realization of Industry 4.0.
