US ignored Russia's calls for agreement on non-Militarisation of space: Russian Defense Ministry

Moscow, Nov 16 (UNI/Sputnik) For many years Russia has been calling on the United States to sign a treaty to prevent the militarisation of space, but the US and its allies have been blocking the motion, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.
"For many years, the Russian Federation has been calling on the United States and other space powers to sign an agreement on preventing the placement of weapons in outer space. The draft of this treaty has been submitted to the UN. However, the United States and its allies have been blocking its adoption," the official statement said.
