Russia repels 2 Ukrainian attacks in Avdiivka, Donetsk directions in 24 hours - Military

Moscow, Mar 10 (UNI) Russian forces repelled two attacks by the Ukrainian army in the Avdiivka, also known as Avdeyevka, and Donetsk directions, eliminating up to 590 soldiers over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
"In the Avdiivka direction, units of the Center group of forces, acting actively and coherently, took more advantageous lines and positions. Fire damage was inflicted on the manpower and equipment [of Ukraine forces] ... in the areas of the settlements of Maiorsk, Novokalynove, Berdychi and Rozivka in the Donetsk People's Republic. Two counterattacks by assault groups ... of the Ukrainian army were also repelled in the areas of [the villages of] Orlivka and Tonenke in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.
In this area alone, Ukraine lost up to 310 servicepeople, one tank and two infantry fighting vehicles, as well as eight vehicles, the ministry said. A US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery unit, a D-20 howitzer and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, as well as two D-30 howitzers were hit in the course of counter-battery combat, the ministry added.
