Russia takes over Renault’s Moscow factory to revive Soviet-era car

Moscow, May 16 (UNI) Russian authorities announced on Monday that they will be taking over a factory belonging to French car maker Renault and use the same to make Soviet-era car Moskvitch, The Guardian reported.
This is being seen as Moscow's first bid at nationalisation of a overseas firm after its invasion of Ukraine saw an exodus of foreign firms leaving the country either temporarily or permanently as part of the west induced sanctions.
Renault has ceded its 68 per cent stake in Russia’s greatest carmaker, AvtoVAZ, with an choice to purchase it again inside six years.
