UAE, Bahrain step toward Israel is Sovereign decision, but region should be united – Doha

Moscow, Nov 17 (Sputnik) The step taken by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to normalize ties with Israel is the states’ sovereign decision, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said, pointing out however that the Arab region should be united and take into consideration the interests of Palestine.
"We need to address [the Palestinian issue] at the center of any discussion. The Emirati and Bahraini decision – it is their own sovereign decision to conduct bilateral relationship, and we do not interfere [in the matter]. … I am talking about the global picture of the Arab region versus Israel: I think that it is better to have a united front and [follow] the interests of the Palestinian people to end the occupation, recognize the two-state solution and go back to the borders of 1967 with an independent sovereign state of Palestine," the minister said in a message to the Global Security Forum.
The Qatari top diplomat added that Doha seeks to see the negotiating process between the two rival sides as a way put an end to the long-standing crisis, because the Palestinian nation "is the one that pays for this conflict."
