Pakistan: PTI hails Supreme Court's verdict on Article 63(A)

Islamabad, May 17 (UNI) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), which had filed a presidential reference in the Supreme Court seeking interpretation of Article 63(A) during its government, on Tuesday hailed the Supreme Court's order and called for the prime minister and Punjab chief minister's resignation, The News reported.
The PTI had, before the no-confidence motion, had demanded that the defected members of the parliament from their party should not be allowed to vote and called for unseating them, as they had gone against the party diktat.
In a split decision, three judges — Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and Justice Munib Akhtar — agreed that dissident members' votes should not be counted. But Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel disagreed with the verdict.
