Florida SC upholds restrictions on abortion

Washington, Apr 2 (UNI) The Florida Supreme Court said in a ruling that the state can move forward with restricting access to abortions, overturning more than three decades of legal precedent in the state.
“After considering each of these sources and consistent with longstanding principles of judicial deference to legislative enactments, we conclude there is no basis under the Privacy Clause to invalidate the statute,” the ruling, issued Monday, said.
The court retracted prior decisions in which it held that the Privacy Clause guaranteed the right to receive an abortion through the end of the second trimester of pregnancy, the ruling said.
