France, UK condemn Iranian attack on Israel

Paris, April 14 (UNI) France and the United Kingdom condemned on Sunday an Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel and expressed their solidarity with the Jewish state.
"France condemns in the strongest terms the attack launched by Iran against Israel," French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne said on social media.
Sejourne described the large-scale attack as an unprecedented and destabilizing step that risked further military escalation.
"France reaffirms its commitment to Israel's security and assures it of its solidarity," he added.
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak echoed Sejourne's words of condemnation and the pledge to stand up for Israel's security as well as that of Jordan, Iraq and other partners in the region.
"I condemn in the strongest terms the Iranian regime’s reckless attack against Israel. Iran has once again demonstrated that it is intent on sowing chaos in its own backyard," Sunak said.
"Alongside our allies, we are urgently working to stabilize the situation and prevent further escalation. No one wants to see more bloodshed," he added.
Egypt is also concerned about the escalation in the Middle East and calls for maximum restraint, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
"The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its deep concern over the announcement of the launch of Iranian kamikaze drones against Israel and the signs of a dangerous escalation between the two countries," the ministry said in a statement.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Italy was closely following the situation in the Middle East and that the Italian government was ready for any scenario.
The Mexican government has expressed deep concern over the Iranian-Israeli conflict, which could lead to "thousands of deaths," the Mexican Foreign Ministry said.
"Mexico condemns the use of force in international relations and calls on the parties to exercise restraint and seek peaceful solutions to avoid the spread of conflict in the Middle East," the ministry said on X.
Iran launched dozens of drones toward Israel on Saturday night after threatening to retaliate for a deadly airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria that killed seven members of the elite Revolutionary Guard Corps last week.
