Abuja, Mar 1 (UNI) At least five people were killed and four others injured Thursday when a bus and a car collided in Nigeria's southwestern state of Ogun, the traffic police said.
The collision occurred on the Fidiwo bridge, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Florence Okpe, a spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun, told reporters in the state capital of Abeokuta.
The tragedy was caused by "excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking which led to a loss of control," Okpe said, citing an investigation by the traffic police.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions, and reckless driving. UNI/XINHUA AKS
