Heavy rains help to filled up major dams in region

Aurangabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Most of the major irrigation projects except few dams situated across in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state have been flooded due to the incessant rains continues lashing the region.
Therefore, the problem of drinking and agricultural irrigation is solved.
However, the excess rains destroyed several lakh hectors khariff crops as well as eroded lands in different places in the region.
Although the rains may have damaged the kharif crops, water will be available during the rabi season.
According to the sources ,out of 11 major project eight projects were filled up of its full capacity and water being released from some of them dams due to continues inflow reaching in these dams.
The five dams at Yeldari(Parbhani), Siddheshwar(Hingoli), Vishnupuri(Nanded), Nimma Dudhna (Parbhani)and Manar(Nanded) have been fully filled and water starts releasing from these dam in downstream of river basins.
While Manjra(Beed), Majalgaon(Beed), Panganga project(Yeotmal) touching to filling up of its full capacity.
Jayakwadi dam (Aurangabad) filled up to 72 percent,Nimma Terna (Osmanabad) 74 percent and Sina Kolegaon present having 41 percent live waters,they said.
The Jayakwadi dam known as life line of Marathwada region, which supplies water to Aurangabad, Jalna and about over 200 villages and three industrial industries and irrigation purpose of several hectors lands.
As per IMD data the region has to receive an average 679 mm rainfall during the monsoon session, but this year so far an average 840 mm rain was recorded which is 123 per cent of annual rainfall.
There is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in all the districts on Wednesday, according to the meteorological department.
