Mahatma Gandhi became Jannayak only after making India 'Republic' , says Cong's Gopaldada

Pune, July 24 ( UNI) Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari on Sunday felt that Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi became the leader of the freedom struggle and became a Mahatma as he did the important work of making the country, which was free from slavery, the 'Republic of India', a democratic power of the people, on the principles of 'truth and non-violence'.
Speaking on the function here Sunday Tiwari said, under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Nehru, Sardar Patel, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has established democratic 'power of the people', made the citizens 'citizens of independent India' and gave them the right to decide the rulers of the country through the constitution and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle were given a democratic independent India. It is the duty of Indians to commemorate the birth of the dream in the elixir festival of freedom and express gratitude to them.
