Man gets capital punishment for killing his wife, her 3 family members

Kolhapur, Mar 26 (UNI) In first of its kind rare judgement, a court in Jaysingpur town of the district on Tuesday awarded capital punishment to a man who killed his wife on suspicion of her character, along with her other three family members including mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, at Yadrav village in Shirol tehsil of the district in October, 2018.
Public prosecutor V G Sardesai told the court that on ill-fated day, accused Pradeep Vishvnath Jagtap (40), resident of Kavatheguland in Shirol tehsil of the district, came to house of his mother-in-law at Parvati industrial estate in Yadrav, where his wife Rupali was living, and picked up a quarrel with her over her character.
When Rupali's family members tried to intervene in the quarrel, Pradeep became furious and struck on the heads of his wife Rupali, Chaya Sripati Irekar (mother-in-law), Sonali Ravan (sister-in-law) and Rohit Irekar (brother-in-law) with a powerloom wooden batten, killing all four on the spot.
