First international conference on Labour & Sustainable Development in Asia begins in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jun 1 (UNI) The South Asia Centre for Labour Mobility and Migrants (SALAM) at the city-based International Institute for Population Science (IIPS) on Thursday inaugurated its first three-day international conference on "Labour and Sustainable Development in Asia: Opportunities, Challenges, and Way Forward".
The event was formally inaugurated with all the dignitaries lighting the lamp.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference, J K Banthia (IAS), former chief secretary, Government of Maharashtra, emphasised that South Asia always needed a Centre like SALAM, which can enhance capacity building to formulate evidence-based policy to protect migrants' rights in South Asia.
