Aurangabad, Jan 4 (UNI) The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 97 fresh COVID-19 cases and 2 related deaths during the past 24 hours, health authorities informed on Tuesday.
The district headquarters report stated that of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district recorded 37 cases and one death, followed by Beed district which reported a single death, Osmanabad had 18 cases, Jalna had 14 cases, Nanded and Latur had 10 cases each ,Parbhani had 6 cases and Hingoli had 2 cases each, they added.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 12,160 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 67,12,028.
The state also registered 11 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,41,553.
Meanwhile,1,748 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 65,14,358. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.05 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 52,422 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.
Also,,68 fresh cases of new vairant Omicron were spotted in the state on Monday.
With this tally of Omicron cases climbed up to 578.
While 259 patients have been cured so far, they added.
