Sukh Ram says money recovered from his Mandi house belonged to Congress

Sukh Ram says money recovered from his Mandi house belonged to Congress

Mandi, Oct 20 (UNI) In a frontal attack on chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday, former Union Minister Sukh Ram, who recently joined BJP along with his son Anil Sharma, disclosed that the money recovered from his Mandi residence during a CBI raid, had been handed over to him by the then AICC treasurer Sitaram Kesari under a conspiracy hatched by Virbhadra Singh. Under a bonafide belief I obliged him when he said it was being kept in your house for security reasons. Describing chief minister as a "despotic dictator" who could adopt any method to damage the reputation of his political rival, he said political history of Himachal Pradesh was a witness to it. He said he had taken an oath to end the "autocratic and dictatorial" rule of Virbhadra Singh. Former Union Minister said when a reporter of a leading journal had interviewed him and posed a question: Who else, you think, can replace Virbhadra Singh, “I laughed and in a casual reply said, “Even Anil Sharma can replace him”. This reply probably hurt him. Sukh Ram alleged that Virbhadra Singh was the victim of obsession for his wife and son to continue the rule of royals even in the democratic setup to the detriment of the state which was progressing on the path of prosperity. The so called Raja started dreaming of making Himachal Pradesh his personal empire and sovereign state. Sukh Ram, known as the “Chanakya of Himachal” politics, said no chief minister of the country except Himachal Pradesh, with only four MPs ever dared to blackmail the Prime Minister. Mocking at his absurd and false allegation of describing him a “Aaya Ram and Gaya Ram “ he reminded Virbhadra Singh of the days when he threatened to join NCP of Sharad Pawar when Congress President surrendered before the threat of Virbhadra Singh and sent Mr Ahmed Patel to appease the Raja, he lamented Sukh Ram said he would wholeheartedly work for the BJP and would ensure that all the ten Vidhan Sabha seats of Mandi go to BJP. He was ready to go to other parts of the state to canvass for the BJP if the party high command desired so as he was highly impressed with the dynamic policies and programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
