19 CRPF men injured in road accident in Srinagar, police says no stone pelting involved

Srinagar, May 27 (UNI) As many as 19 Central Reserve Police Force personnel were injured in a road accident at Bemina bypass on the city outskirts on Sunday.
Jammu and Kashmir Police refuted reports that the accident happened due to stone pelting and claimed that the CRPF vehicle overturned when the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Earlier, CRPF had claimed that the incident happened after some miscreants pelted stones on the vehicle.

A police official said a vehicle of 28 battalion of CRPF overturned at Bemina bypass, resulting in injuries
to 19 jawans. The injured were immediately taken to a hospital from where nine were referred to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Refuting reports that the accident happened due to stone pelting, he said CCTV footage from a nearby petrol pump clearly shows that the incident happened when the driver of the vehicle lost control.
“The footage also clears that no stone pelting was happening in the area at the time of the accident,” he added.
