Former World No.1 Garbine Muguruza retires

Madrid, April 20 (UNI) Spanish tennis star Garbiñe Muguruza has officially announced her retirement from professional tennis, ending a stellar career that saw her reach the pinnacle of the sport.
Muguruza, a multiple Grand Slam champion and former World No.1, made the announcement at a press conference in Madrid on Saturday. The 30-year-old had taken a break from tournament tennis in 2023 and has now decided to hang up her racket for good.
The announcement comes ahead of the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, which will take place in Madrid on Monday, April 22. Muguruza revealed that she will be attending the event as a Laureus Ambassador, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
