Punjab girls beat Odisha to qualify for BCCI Women’s U-19 q-finals

Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) Punjab girls entered the quarter-final of BCCI Women’s U-19 One Day Trophy after defeating Odisha by two wickets at the K.L Saini Stadium in Jaipur. Punjab finished their Elite-E league in first place with 20 points, riding on back-to-back wins in the league stage. Punjab played their fifth match today.
Odisha CA won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first Odisha CA Women’s U-19 scored 141 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. Skipper Subhra Nirjharini Swain scored 60 runs off 114 balls with eight boundaries, Alipsa Biswal scored 23 runs off 63 balls with four boundaries and G M Alakananda made 22 runs off 54 balls with two boundaries were the main run-getters for Odisha CA. Mannat Kashyap 3 for 28 and Priyanka 2 for 20 were the most successful wicket-takers for Punjab CA.
Replying, Punjab girls achieved the target in the 47h over and scored 144 for the loss of eight wickets. Pragati Singh scored 56 runs off 79 balls with four boundaries and Priyanka unbeaten 22 runs off 64 balls with one boundary were the highest run-getters for Punjab. Subhra Nirjharini Swain 2 for 19 and Tanmayee Behera 2 for 24 were the main wicket-takers for Odisha.
