New Delhi, April 24 (UNI) Delhi Capitals emerged victorious in a pulsating encounter against Gujarat Titans, clinching a narrow four-run win in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) held here on Wednesday.
Chasing a formidable target of 225 runs, Gujarat Titans showcased remarkable grit and determination throughout their innings. Opener Wriddhiman Saha provided a solid start with a quickfire 39 off 25 balls, while Sai Sudarshan contributed a crucial 65 off 39 deliveries. However, the Gujarat Titans fell agonizingly short, finishing at 220/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
In the final over, with six runs needed off the last ball, Rashid Khan attempted a big shot but failed to clear the boundary, sealing a thrilling win for Delhi Capitals.
Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals, opting to bat first, amassed a challenging total of 224/4 in their 20 overs. Captain Rishabh Pant led from the front with an explosive unbeaten innings of 88 runs, featuring 5 boundaries and 8 sixes. Akshar Patel also played a crucial role, contributing 66 runs with the help of five fours and four maximums.
The Delhi Capitals bowlers put up a disciplined performance to defend their total, with Rasikh Dar Salam spearheading the attack with three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, and Akshar Patel also chipped in with vital wickets.
For Gujarat Titans, Sandeep Warrier was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/43, while Noor Ahmed claimed one wicket.
With this hard-fought victory, Delhi Capitals registered their fourth win in nine matches, strengthening their position in the IPL points table. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans faced their fifth defeat, making their playoff aspirations more challenging.
