Chennai, Feb 28 (UNI) The Indian Space Research Organisatio (ISRO) on Wednesday launched
Rohini Sounding Rocket from its new launch facility at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district
of Tamil Nadu.
The launch marked the laying of foundation stone of the second spaceport by Prime Minister
Narendra Modi.
The Rohini Sounding Rocket ‘RH – 200’ was launched from a makeshift launch facility from the new spaceport at Kulasekarapattinam.
ISRO said the launch mission was successful from the proposed new launch facility that would be
operational in two years and dedicated exclusively for SSLV missions to launch satellites weighing
up to 500 kg in a low earth orbit with private participation.
