Priyanka Gandhi lambasts PM Modi's mangalsutra remark, defends family's legacy

Bengaluru, April 23 (UNI) AICC General Secretary, Priyanka Vadra-Gandhi, took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a rally in South Bengaluru here on Tuesday, emphasising the sacrifices made by her mother, former AICC president Sonia Gandhi, and her grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Priyanka recounted the sacrifices made by her family, stating that Sonia Gandhi had sacrificed her mangalsutra for the nation's welfare. She further stated that Indira Gandhi had donated her gold during her regime's war effort. These sacrifices, she stressed, were made with the nation's best interests at heart.
Her comments were prompted by recent statements made by PM Modi, which implied that the Congress had figuratively "taken people's gold and ripped off women’s mangalsutra."
