Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Senior DMK Leader and former Minister K.Ponmudy was on Friday sworn-in
as Minister paving the way for his re-induction into the Tamil Nadu Cabinet.
A day after the Supreme Court voiced 'serious concern' over Governor R.N.Ravi's conduct after he
had earlier refused to re-induct Mr Ponmudy into the Cabinet, the former Minister was sworn in at
a simple function held at the Raj Bhavan.
Mr Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Ponmudy, who was later allotted the same
Higher Education portfolio held by him, when he was disqualified in December last year after the
Madras High Court convicted him and sentenced him to three years jail term in a disprorportionate
assets case.
However, the conviction and the sentence was stayed by the Supreme Court, paving way for his return to the State Cabinet.
Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and his Cabinet colleagues were present at the swearing in ceremony.
